For International Holocaust Remembrance Day, discover the IHRA’s Toolkit against Holocaust distortion
The International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) is a member of GAAMAC’s community. It raises the alarm on a lesser-known phenomenon than Holocaust denial, but equally as dangerous: Holocaust distortion.
“Holocaust distortion is the greatest contemporary threat to the legacy of the Holocaust” says the IHRA. “It harms our democracies, normalizes antisemitism and fuels extremism. But despite the danger it poses, Holocaust distortion is often overlooked and rarely leads to concrete action.”
For International Holocaust Remembrance Day on 27 January, take action to change this!
The newly launched IHRA Toolkit Against Holocaust Distortion is designed to help policymakers, decisionmakers and civil society representatives take steps towards recognizing and countering Holocaust distortion. It provides leaders with practical tools, guidance and example activities to empower them to be ambassadors for change – in their institutions, governments, and communities.
The IHRA unites governments and experts to strengthen, advance and promote Holocaust education, research and remembrance and to uphold the commitments to the 2000 Stockholm Declaration. The IHRA’s network of trusted experts share their knowledge on early warning signs of present-day genocide and education on the Holocaust. This knowledge supports policymakers and educational multipliers in their efforts to develop effective curricula, and it informs government officials and NGOs active in global initiatives for genocide prevention.
