GAAMAC ends 2021 on a high note
A message from GAAMAC Chair, Judge Silvia Fernández de Gurmendi, for the end of the year.
As 2021 comes to an end, I am pleased to report that it has been a year of consolidation for GAAMAC.
We welcomed two new partners into our network: the Platform for Peace and Humanity and, just a few weeks ago, the African Coordination of Human Rights for the Armed Forces (CADHA).
We also reinforced alliances with the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA); the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights; the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for
Human Rights and UNESCO. These alliances allow for cross-fertilization between our community on the ground and the regional and multilateral arena.
GAAMAC has also consolidated as a community, through its very active Regional Initiatives and thanks to its fourth Global Meeting, GAAMAC IV, which convened over 300 participants from 61 countries.
Finally, in 2021 we also paved the way for the years to come: GAAMAC’s Steering Group set its policy strategy for 2022-2024.
Thank you all for your support this year. Together in 2022, we can make a stronger impact so that atrocities prevention becomes a reality.Happy holidays,
Judge Silvia Fernández de Gurmendi,
