GAAMAC III participant Akila Radhakrishnan, President of the Global Justice Centre, wrote an insightful piece about justice for gendered crimes under international law. Examining the case of the genocide against the Yazidi, perpetrated not only through killings but also sexual crimes including rape, she makes the case for prosecutions for genocide. So far, ISIS fighters in Iraq and abroad have been charged with terrorism charges rather than genocide. She outlines what is needed to fill this accountability gap to finally deliver justice for the genocide against the Yazidi.
