Atrocity Prevention and Peacebuilding: Key insights and lessons from a global consultation convened by Peace Direct
Peace Direct published a new report on the role of local peacebuilders in atrocity prevention, an issue that has not gained much attention so far. The report is the outcome of a four-day online consultation process involving 93 participants, which took place at the end of 2017.
The report presents reflections, insights and recommendations on the role of local peacebuilders in bridging divisions in their communities and finding local solutions to conflict, ultimately contributing to atrocity prevention. It examines the overlap between peacebuilding and atrocity prevention, looks at local initiatives to respond to atrocities, focuses on the role of marginalized groups, and finally assesses how the donor community can promote local atrocity prevention initiatives.
