Bangsamoro/Philippines: TJRC Reports Public Launch 2017
The Normalization Annex of the Framework Agreement on the Bangsamoro (FAB), signed on 25 January 2014, provides for the creation of the Transitional Justice and Reconciliation Commission (TJRC), an independent body mandated by the Peace Panels of the Government of the Philippines (GPH) and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), to study and formulate recommendations on issues related to the legitimate grievances of the Bangsamoro, historical injustice, human rights violations, and marginalisation through land dispossession, with the view to promote healing and reconciliation among the conflict-affected communities in Mindanao and the Sulu archipelago.
On March 15 and 16, 2016, the TJRC handed over its main report to the peace panels.
The TJRC officially launched and handed over to the Peace Implementing Panels its supplementary reports, namely: (1) TJRC Listening Process Report, (2) TJRC Land Report entitled “Dealing with the Past and Land Dispossession”, and; (3) the technical report “Land: Territory, Domain and Identity” (in cooperation with WB-IOM) on February 20 and 22, 2017, in Dusit Thani, Makati City and Camp Darapanan, Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao, respectively.
