Una Hakika Stakeholders Forum

14 Apr 2015 | iHub, Nairobi

Organized By : Sentinel Project

By the Sentinel Project and iHub Research

You are invited to join us and discuss the role of mobile technology in managing dangerous misinformation. Come learn more at the Una Hakika meetup during the morning of 14 April 2015 at iHub, Nairobi (further details are below).

Una Hakika is a partnership between the Sentinel Project and iHub Research with funding from the International Development Research Centre which uses mobile phones to monitor and counter conflict-linked misinformation in Kenya’s Tana Delta. Our research has found that both “organic” rumours and deliberately-spread disinformation contribute to significant distrust, fear, hatred, and instability in the area, sometimes relating to intercommunal conflict. After one year of operation, we are now an increasingly trusted source of neutral, accurate information which reduces the influence of rumours and the risk of violence. Now we are looking to Una Hakika’s future in the Tana Delta, across Kenya, and even beyond.

Do you want to hear more about our work, our successes, and our challenges? Do you want to understand the link between technology misinformation and peace? You are welcome to come meet our team, members of the Tana Delta community, and join us as we discuss Una Hakika’s story and future.

Time - 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM
Location - iHub, 4th floor, Bishop Magua Centre
