Global Peace Index 2018
The Institute for Economics and Peace has published its 12th edition of the Global Peace Index, measuring the level of peacefulness in 163 independent states and territories. Using 23 qualitative and quantitative indicators, the report’s authors find that the global level of peace has deteriorated compared to last year, as well as over the last ten years. This runs counter to the longer-term trend, in which global peacefulness has been rising over the last century. The report reveals a world in which conflicts and crises from the past decade remain unresolved, contributing to the fall in peacefulness worldwide.
