Declaration of the Latin American Network for Genocide and Mass Atrocity Prevention

The Declaration of the Latin American Network for Genocide and Mass Atrocity Preventionwas adopted at the Fourth Focal Points Meeting of the Latin American Network for Genocide and Mass Atrocity Prevention, on May 29, 2015 in the city of Santiago, Chile. It represents a further step towards the consolidation and formalization of the objectives and areas of work agreed upon by the Focal Points at the launch of the Network in March of 2012.

The Auschwitz Institute for Peace and Reconciliation, in its role as the Technical Secretariat of the Network, has been supporting this effort which significantly strengthens prevention efforts across the Latin American region.

Representatives from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Dominican Republic, Uruguay, and Venezuela jointly declared ther commitment, amont others, to "perpetuating actions aimed at consolidating the Latin American Network for Genocide and Mass Atrocity Prevention as a regional tool that contributes to the continued mainstreaming of atrocity prevention in national agendas."
