GAAMAC III: Making Prevention a Reality

GAAMAC, in cooperation with the government of Uganda, will hold its third biannual Global Meeting (GAAMAC III) in Kampala, Uganda from 23 to 25 May 2018. During GAAMAC III, states and civil society organizations will work together to make prevention a reality at the local, national, regional and international level.
GAAMAC III will enable participants to analyze and exchange on good practice and lessons learned from ongoing experiences of prevention. Cross learning will also be part of the program with in-depth exchanges about other preventive systems (e.g. public health and disaster risk reduction), the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) as a tool to mainstream the prevention of mass atrocities, thematic exchanges on early warning systems, the role of memory and remembrance in non-recurrence, prevention of hate speech, information and early warning technology in atrocity prevention, the role of parliamentarians, youth, women, religious actors, media and the security sector to name just a few.
